About the Artist

Giulio D’Amore is a multi-media artist working primarily in the mediums of wood and light. Giulio is originally from São Paulo, Brazil and now lives and works in Denver, Colorado. He began his woodworking practice in 2019, while taking advanced courses through the woodworking program at RRCC [Red Rocks Community College, Fine Woodworking Program], where he studied under the guidance of key teachers and began learning to master complex forms using ash and walnut veneer.

Over the years, Giulio has dedicated himself to develop light sculptures from traditional woodworking skills that exemplify simplicity and sophistication. His mastery of the multi-faceted technique, bent and lamination, has served as the catalyst for the practice he is increasingly becoming recognized for.

Giulio's repertoire now encompasses a blend of sculptural and functional elements that are delicate in form and thoughtfully crafted to infer spaces between light and motion. Meticulously hand-sculpted from layers of wood veneer, his center-pieces exude organic curvatures that boast a profound sense of tranquility and a unique asymmetrical balance. From various angles, his sculptures unveil fresh and exhilarating perspectives from their free-form designs.

My primary inspiration is intersecting the interplay of light against the natural wood grain and random textures to create a visual spectacle,” elevating the viewer’s senses within these brilliant sculptures. Giulio is committed to making wood the cornerstone of his artistic voice. He is driven to explore new mediums to incorporate into his vision, always pushing the boundaries of his creative expression as a formidable young artist.

Giulio D’Amore exhibits a drive and commitment to innovate through these natural materials to master his craft and share his journey of artistic exploration.
